Short Biography

Rob has worked with the USGS Maine Water Science Center in Augusta, Maine since 1992, and has served as a Hydrologist since 1998 during which he has led or been involved in a variety of geophysical, hydrologic, hydraulic, and statistical modeling studies encompassing climate-related hydrologic trends, eco-hydrologic assessments, stormwater-runoff quality and quantity, riverine sediment mapping, geomorphology, and public-water-supply water budgets. Ongoing and recent work includes: investigations of hydrologic and climatic changes in New England using global climate model output and watershed modeling in cooperation with NOAA, USFWS, and the Maine Bureau of Sea Run Fisheries and Habitat (MBSRFH) to support management of Atlantic salmon populations and water resources; hydraulic modeling as part of fish-passage investigations for a dam-removal project on the Penobscot River; determining effects of lake-level variations on smallmouth bass habitat during spawning on behalf of the International Joint Commission and in cooperation with MBSRFH and New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources & Energy; member of Atlantic salmon DPS Recovery Team tasked with identifying priority recovery actions for USFWS and NOAA and providing input and recommendations on specific recovery issues relative to Atlantic salmon restoration and rehabilitation programs in Maine; and investigation of long-term groundwater trends in New England in cooperation with the USGS Office of Groundwater. Dudley is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Maine and received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (1994) and M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering (1998) from the University of Maine.
